The Straight Up

A boutique guided bar tour through two of the most storied bars in Texas, The Buckhorn Saloon and Menger Hotel and bar with a convenient stroll through Alamo Plaza in between.

Not for the faint of heart, this tour includes detailed descriptions of Comanche raid tactics, archery hunting feats, animal oddities, a massive taxidermy collection, Texas Ranger’s role in early firearm development and even Bonnie and Clyde. We discuss all things Alamo as we walk through the plaza enroute to our second bar, The Menger Bar. Nestled inside the Menger Hotel (1859) the bar is world famous for Teddy Roosevelt recruiting Rough Riders out of it in 1898. We will enjoy a second round in the bar for a discussion of all things Teddy before exploring the Victorian Menger lobby with drink in hand.
